Playboy magazine’s editorial offices are leaving the Windy City for Los Angeles after almost six decades in the Midwest. The art and photo departments are moving to the West coast, too, joining with Playboy Enterprises offices that already exist in LA. Founder Hugh Hefner, who bought back Playboy enterprises this past March, implied that the move was financially motivated, with possible savings coming from the efficiency of consolidating operations in one place. So it seems like this year we traded Playboy’s editorial operations for The Onion’s edit staff. That’s a swap I’m happy to make.
